Data and sources

Where the data comes from

Funded Baby is only worth reading if the rows are right and the sourcing is defensible. This page describes exactly how each day is assembled, what we will not do to get data, and how to get something corrected or removed.

How each day is compiled

Every row is entered once a day through a private import that runs before anything appears on the site. The daily workflow is:

  • Collect the day's funding and acquisition announcements from sources we are allowed to use: company and investor press releases, official blog and newsroom posts, regulatory filings, and licensed or manually provided data exports.
  • Structure each row into a fixed schema — company, location, region, stage or acquirer, amount in USD, announcement timestamp, description, website, investors, and a canonical source URL.
  • Validate the batch. The importer rejects a row with a missing field, a non-integer amount, an unknown funding stage, a timestamp without a timezone, or a relative URL. Nothing is published until the batch passes.
  • Deduplicate on the canonical source URL, so re-importing the same announcement updates the existing row instead of creating a second one.

What we do not do

To be explicit, because it matters both legally and to the companies we list: Funded Baby does not scrape Crunchbase or any other service. There is no crawler behind this site.

  • We do not extract data from a provider whose terms prohibit it, and we do not use a third party to do it on our behalf.
  • We do not bypass paywalls, logins, rate limits, or bot protection to obtain records.
  • We do not resell or re-host a licensed provider's database. Data obtained under a license is used within that license, and the daily list is our own compilation of individual announcements.
  • We do not publish personal data about individuals. The ledger holds companies, investor firm names, and deal facts — no founder contact details, no email addresses, no phone numbers.

Attribution and ownership

The underlying facts — that a company raised a round, and for how much — are matters of public record and are not owned by us. What Funded Baby adds is the daily compilation, the normalization into consistent units, and the profile pages that connect companies to investors.

Every company row links to that company's own website, so credit for the announcement stays with the source. Company names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used here only to identify the company being described. Being listed on Funded Baby is not an endorsement, a partnership, or a sponsorship in either direction.

Accuracy, and where it falls short

This is a fast-moving daily list compiled by hand, so treat it as a starting point rather than a system of record. Known limits:

  • Announcement dates are the date the deal was announced, not the date it closed. Rounds are frequently announced weeks after signing.
  • Deal values that were never disclosed are shown as “Undisclosed”. We do not estimate them.
  • Investor lists reflect the investors named in the announcement. Unnamed participants are missing, not excluded on purpose.
  • The list is not exhaustive. Deals announced without a public source we can cite are left out rather than guessed at.
  • Errors happen: a mistyped amount, a wrong stage label, a company confused with a similarly named one. Please report them.

Nothing on Funded Baby is investment, legal, or financial advice. Verify anything you plan to rely on against the company's own announcement.

Corrections and removal requests

If a row is wrong, or you represent a company and want its entry amended or removed, email pete@feritti.vc with:

  • the company name and which list it appears on;
  • the date it was published, or a link to the page;
  • what is wrong, and what it should say;
  • a source we can check — the company announcement is ideal — or a note that you are asking for removal rather than a correction.

We aim to review requests within five business days, and corrections take effect on the site as soon as they are made.
